Our Wedding

We quickly met during our freshman year of college: we actually lived three doors down from each other in Zimmerman Hall! With the help of Marimac's dad and Dan Stubbs (who were hosting the first of a series of increasingly successful 'SEC-style' tailgates), Marimac made the first move, but Donny officially asked her on their first date, which was November 9, 2017. From then on, we have been each other's biggest supporters. From literal cheering at Dartmouth Football Games to quiet moments of support while studying, Marimac and Donny love to show up for each other. After graduating and leaving New Hampshire, we moved to Dallas together. Now, Marimac is getting her PhD in English Literature at SMU, and Donny is an Associate at Leon Capital Group, where he acquires industrial real estate. From Dallas to Dartmouth, we've made tons of memories together, and we're so excited about this next chapter!

We are thrilled to be getting married at the High Hampton Inn. Marimac's family has been going to Cashiers, North Carolina for generations. The High Hampton Inn holds countless family memories—most recently Marimac and Donny's engagement!

We are so excited for our guests to be part of our next big memory at the High Hampton, and we can't wait to welcome you to Cashiers in August.

See below for suggestions on our preferred attire. Friday - Semi-FormalWelcome to the relaxed elegance of the High Hampton! Gents, grab a jacket, but leave the tie at home. Midi, tea-length, or above-the-knee dresses are great options for ladies. A dressy skirt &amp;top or an elegant pantsuit would be excellent choices as well.Please Note: our Friday events will be indoors and outdoors, so plan to walk over grass and gravel pathways. Saturday - Cocktail AttireA small step above semi-formal.This dress code strikes a balance between elegance and comfort. Plan to have fun!Instead of a floor-length dress, we ask for a tea-length, midi, or ankle-length look. We're recommending against longer dresses because of our outdoor venue.Additionally, this is the time to pull out your suit and tie!Note Again: our Saturday events will be both indoors and outdoors, so please plan to walk over grass and gravel pathways.

From Your Hosts: &nbsp;We are thrilled to celebrate with you at one of our favorite places, the High Hampton Inn &amp; Resort. All of our wedding events will take place at our intimate venue, and our guests will stay on property in the historic cabins and inn rooms. &nbsp;During our wedding weekend, guests will enjoy all meals free of charge in the Inn Dining Room and at the Tavern. Plus, we encourage you to explore resort amenities like pickleball, tennis, paddleboarding, and fishing, to name a few. Flights

Asheville Regional Airport is just over an hour drive to/from Cashiers, and it is the closest to our venue. AVL offers many direct flights to/from major cities as well as connections through Charlotte + Atlanta. Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport is just under 2 hours from Cashiers. Without the hustle of a major airport, this is an efficient option. CLT + ATL are approximately 3 hours from Cashiers. If you plan to fly, we recommend renting a car or arranging for a car service to take you to our venue. There are no uber/lyfts in the Cashiers area.

Rental cars

Mountain Motor Coach offers chauffeured&nbsp;transportation to/from the AVL airport and Cashiers. Mountain Motor Coach is excellent for groups: their shuttle vans can accommodate up to fourteen passengers. They also offer SUVs, which accommodate one to six passengers.

Travel

Local activities

There are so many great hiking spots in Cashiers, including some of the best waterfalls in the country. Because we are located on the Eastern Continental Divide, the views are spectacular! If you have a limited amount of time (or energy), the best hike is Whiteside Mountain. This 2-mile loop showcases some of the best views of the Blue Ridge — and it's not too strenuous. If you're looking for a challenge, we recommend Chimney Top, which is on the High Hampton property. (the photo showcases just one view from Whiteside, but you can see the twin mountains—Rock and Chimney top—in the upper left corner!)

Hiking

We love Brookings. Thomas has worked here, and Tom likes to call this our "hometown fly shop". Stop by to get the best fly patterns, or make a reservation in advance for a guided fly fishing trip to catch Rainbow, Brown, and maybe even Brook trout! Pro tip: head to the back of the store for a laid back beer and wine bar, the Blue Line Bar. This is the spot where Donny and Marimac went after they got engaged.

Guests of High Hampton Resort can book a tee time at the Golf course. Recently renovated, this course is as gorgeous as it is challenging.

Rent a pontoon, or floatilator, for the day and check out Lake Glenville.

There are several Sliding Rock spots in the area, but this is our favorite. "Little Sliding Rock" or "Cashiers Sliding Rock" is a hidden secret, and we think this natural waterslide is the perfect way to spend a warmer day! Directions: from the crossroads in Cashiers, travel south on NC Hwy 107 for 1.9 miles. Turn right going west on Whiteside Cove Road. Continue for 2.8 miles. After crossing bridge, pull off onto dirt on right. Follow trail to right for 100 yards to Cashiers Sliding Rock.&nbsp;

Cafes + restaurants we love

The best pizza in town. Located just in front of Hotel Cashiers, Slab Town is family friendly and fun. We recommend the Duke!

It's Cashiers' Favorite Porch for a reason! This is the ultimate sandwich spot, and the McRaes have been going here for years. Marimac's favorite is the Mariners Supreme, but you can't go wrong. The Bo Burger and Wade Hampton's Downfall are also fantastic.

The Cornucopia

Craft beer and tons of porch space is a winning combo. One photo doesn't do the brewery justice; there are several areas to sit and spread out to enjoy the weather. We recommend the wings for their unique buffalo sauce, as well as a flight of beers so you can find your favorite.

Whiteside Brewing Company

We stock up on southern necessities here. Everything is seasonal, and in August, we like buying their fresh peaches to make peach ice cream. You can also try some North Carolina BBQ at On The Side — a restaurant located at the Farmer's Market's side porch

Cashiers Farmers Market

Support a local coffee shop! We love the cosy, collected atmosphere of Bucks. It's located right at the crossroads, so it's easy to grab some caffeine on your way in or out of Cashiers.
